Mission of the Drosos Foundation
The Drosos Foundation is committed to enabling disadvantaged people to live a life of dignity. Every individual bears responsibility for himself, for others, for the environment. The Foundation supports skills and helps to establish circumstances appropriate for people to live up to this responsibility.
Areas of work
The Drosos Foundation is active in the following areas:
• Fighting poverty and its consequences
• Promoting health, supporting ill and suffering people
• Facilitating the access to education and knowledge
• Stimulating creative activities of young people
• Protecting the environment
Working both in Switzerland and abroad, the Foundation places a clear emphasis on international engagements.
Working method
The Drosos Foundation develops and supports projects that have a direct bearing
on improving the living conditions of particular groups of people.
The Foundation seeks a long-term impact of its projects and focuses thematically
and geographically on problem areas which receive no, or too little, public
or private funds. It pursues a niche strategy. It does not grant assistance
to individuals or in cases of emergency.
The Foundation typically commissions partner organisations to execute its
projects. Such organisations have to meet the same high standards as the Foundation
itself in terms of entrepreneurial spirit, fairness and transparency. The
Foundation informs the public regularly about its activities.
The Drosos Foundation bases on a private initiative. It is politically, religiously
and ideologically independent.
