A Story to Tell

With rapid advancements in technology and the ongoing acceleration in the pace of life, the generation gap is widening and memories from grandparents about childhood villages, loved ones, games and pastimes, friends and neighbours, personal stories or manual work in a less technological age are increasingly being lost.
As part of this project, grandchildren listen to these narrated stories from their grandparents and bring them back to life through theatre and drama, photography, multimedia, dancing and painting. This process and the experience of recounting these stories in a creative manner will help to empower the young participants by improving their life skills. In turn, this will enhance their chances of participation in decision-making in their communities as well as in their own lives. The project also aims to strengthen relations between the different generations and increase social participation on the side of young people.
