The S27 sees itself as an art laboratory and experimental, extracurricular educational space for young people, in which cultural and political education are combined with processes of personal development, self-efficacy and career orientation. In the “Bildungsmanufaktur” (educational manufactory) format, young people develop upcycled design objects under the guidance of artists, craftspeople and social workers over a period of several months in various creative workshop courses (wood, metal, glass, etc.). The intensive and creative process helps with personal development and serves as a professional orientation.
In cooperation with Glashaus Prenzlau e. V., the S27 tests the transfer of the “educational manufactory” from the urban to the rural context (see “Educational manufactory in rural areas”). In parallel, the S27 is implementing an innovative new educational laboratory in Berlin: the Foxy Energy Lab. Here, future professions and technologies from the fields of sustainability and circular economy are tested in creative experiments.
