Cinema for Development

The Egyptian film sector is a major employer in all segments of society, from creative workers to technicians and laborers. By empowering marginalised young people, this partner organisation aims at the realisation of cultural justice and freedom of expression.
The project will encompass the expansion of the art school curricula in order to provide a professional and creative programme for talented young people. Such curricula are aimed at the development of youth skills in filmmaking and serve to mobilise interest in this creative field as a profession. 100 artists are being trained in filmmaking techniques alongside five teams of specially selected, talented artists that receive support in the implementation and marketing of small film productions.
An editing unit with a screening and training space will be established in Upper Egypt to increase access to filmmaking services for marginalised youth.
