Economic empowerment of vulnerable young women and girls in the Marrakech-Safi region

Like in many countries, violence against women is a major issue in Morocco and requires specific intervention and support. Female victims of domestic violence in the Marrakech-Safi region face significant socio-economic, psychological and cultural challenges, limiting their employment opportunities and integration into society. The lack of education and vocational training accentuates their vulnerability and economic dependence on their abusers.

This project by Association Ennakhil aims to enhance the socio-economic empowerment of disadvantaged young women, mainly victims of violence as well as ex-prisoners, in the Marrakech-Safi region, tackling different levels:

  • It provides professional training in catering, enabling these young women to acquire the necessary skills and qualifications for their chosen profession (cooking or service) in the restaurant of the association.
  • It advocates to ensure that the specific needs of vulnerable young women are integrated into the strategies and policies of national and regional public institutions.
  • It educates universities, media, and the general public in the Marrakech-Safi region about the significance of socio-economic empowerment for vulnerable young women and girls.
