An Independent Dance Space

This project is designed to provide Studio 8 with comprehensive support for creating an independent dance space and platform. Its primary focus is to choreograph and promote contemporary dance in Jordan. The project’s plans specifically look at further strengthening the partner’s organisational capacity to make a difference beyond Amman. Efforts are also being made to underpin the partner’s financial resources and long-term sustainability. The team at  Studio 8 will use the project to further develop and scale-up production to increase its reach. Their goal is to engage over 20,0000 people in artistic activities by organising festivals and tours with workshops, talks and live-streaming. They will offer opportunities for around 3,000 children and youth to experience dance through interactive activities and take part in specially designed workshops. The aim is to strengthen the artistic skills and professionalism of 495 emerging artists through professional training and production opportunities. The project builds on a past cooperation with Studio 8, which helped establish it as a platform for talented local dancers. This platform gives them the opportunity to hone their skills in the area of artistic presentation with the help of practical training sessions, by developing their capabilities and through research in the field of dance.
