Empowering Women through Vocational Training

The partner is cooperating with a local vocational training centre to train and certify a core group of active women as female plumbers in the Al-Zarqa Governorate. In addition to receiving technical training, the women are also being trained in management, financial skills, fundraising, drafting proposals and communicating with donors. After their graduation, the partner will assist them in establishing a female plumbers association that provides plumbing services to the local communities. The association will seek to obtain certification as a vocational training provider in order to offer courses to new trainees who wish to enter the plumbing profession. The female plumber association will offer small loans to make necessary improvements in the water infrastructure of houses and community institutions affordable. This in turn will ensure demand for the plumbing services provided by the association and newly graduated plumbers, some of whom might work independently.
