HIV prevention and healthcare services in prisons

Access to medical treatment and healthcare services for the prevention of HIV, hepatitis and drug use is being improved in five selected prisons in Morocco. UNODC focuses on promoting best practices and develops sustainable partnerships between Moroccan NGOs and the prison authorities to provide the necessary training inside the prisons and to raise awareness among prison staff and inmates about harm reduction.
Outside the correctional facilities, the project focuses on primarily on maintaining relationships with service providers in the community in order to ensure continuity of care and the social and economic reintegration of vulnerable inmates after their release.
