Identity and the City: The Creative HUB

Al-Ma3mal 612 Think Factory engages communities in art programmes and motivates young artists to get involved, take action and responsibility for the well-being of their communities and cities. In this project, Al-Ma3mal 612 Think Factory is establishing a creative arts incubator (The Creative HUB) as a space for exchanging ideas and mentoring, as well as offering capacity building and life skills training for around 100 emerging artists, mid-career artists and HUB artists from disadvantaged communities. They are assisted in creating art initiatives in and with their local communities to promote social interaction and cohesion and in exploring new artistic features for their cities. By establishing a creative cultural space, the project provides a functional space for at least 100 additional artists to meet, network, collaborate and receive professional and logistic support for their art activism initiatives. With this project Al-Ma3mal 612 Think Factory aims to facilitate the building of community identity and pride, thus creating positive individual and community values, such as diversity, tolerance and free expression.
