Kendaka Upcycles

Kendaka is a social enterprise with a dual mission to economically empower women from Badr City and upcycle waste into innovative and trendy products.

Kendaka is supported to become self-sustaining through the development and implementation of a sound business and financial plan, focused marketing and sales, as well as the expansion of existing production lines in upcycled textile, glass and plastic. Around 35 women from Badr city are the skilled artisans behind Kendaka. They have found their way to handicrafts and entrepreneurship through the DROSOS-funded project “The Re-Factor” and will continue to educate more women over time. As such, Kendaka’s experience and evolution shall provide a model for how social enterprises can successfully achieve financial sustainability while upholding their social mission and providing economic opportunities for marginalized women.
