Kids in Dance II

“Kids in Dance II” is a process-oriented dance project for young people between the ages of 12 and 18. The format targets youth from a socio-economically difficult environment or with a migration background, especially girls and young women. Often, they lack support at school due to exclusion dynamics. They experience fewer opportunities to discover and strengthen their personal and social skills. This is where Kids in Dance comes in. The association has developed an inclusive and participatory dance programme that promotes the discovery and development of relevant future skills. Through creative methods, movement and working together towards a project goal, the young people strengthen their resilience, motivation, self-efficacy and self-confidence.
In different formats, and accompanied by a professional dancer and social pedagogue, the young people develop a show and perform it in public. In this process, the young people strengthen their physical awareness and their self- and social competencies.
The association works together with several dance houses/theatres as well as social institutions.

“Kids in Dance II” is a follow-up project to “Kids in Dance”, which involved the founding of the association, the development of the various formats and their successful implementation.

The new project phase focuses on the upscaling of four already existing dance formats, the development of additional new modules and the cooperation with a new tandem of dance teacher/social pedagogue. In addition, it aims to sustainably anchor the different dance formats as well as to secure the financial sustainability of the organisation itself.
