Creativity in the Classroom – Teacher Training on Drama in Education and Interactive Theatre

The National Centre for Culture and Arts will cooperate with the Ministry of Education to provide training in the area of ‘Drama in Education’ for 300 public school teachers as well as area supervisors from the Ministry. This is intended to play a role in the successful implementation of the new policy issued in 2018 by the Ministry of Education, which emphasises the importance for students of creative activities in the development of new skills. Accordingly, for all grades (1-12), two periods per week are allocated to arts, sports, civic education and other creative subjects. The selected teachers will apply the interactive theatre and creative facilitation techniques in the newly-introduced arts and creative classes.

Through this high-quality training, on-the-job coaching and follow-up support for the teachers, the partner hopes to enable over 36,000 students in 32 schools across four locations to develop their life skills and become more self-aware and motivated learners.

Moreover, the project aims to make a contribution to an effective and sustainable shift within the school system with respect to the manner of learning – away from a didactic learning approach towards learning through inquiry.
