Kulturkosmonauten

In ten-day workshops, groups of around 20 young people take an artistic approach to dealing with a theme, text or play. The workshops are accompanied by teams each comprising of two artists, who either have a theatrical or other artistic background.
The workshops can be held in a compact format or spread over a maximum period of six weeks. During this period, the young people aged between 15 and 25 work very closely together with the artists to produce a presentation which they perform to a (semi) public audience at the conclusion of the workshops. The project focuses on the young people’s personal development and aims to strengthen their personal and social skills through artistic work.
The workshops are staged in close cooperation with partner institutions, such as schools, social institutions or youth centres. These provide venues, time and support staff and are prepared to accommodate the disruption to their routine operations caused by the workshops.
The Kulturkosmonauten format was first trialled in a 1½-year pilot phase. The great success of this trial, as proven by the feedback received from the young participants and the teachers, as well as the significant demand from the partner institutions, prompted Drosos Foundation to provide support for a follow-up project with more than 40 workshops.
