Les Farfelus du Crochetan

Over a period of three months, actors and theatre teachers work with around 10 young people living in the Salvan school and youth shelter who are currently going through a difficult time in their lives. In weekly workshops, the young people study various plays in depth, take part in a participatory process to develop their own play, watch a theatre production at the Théâtre du Crochetan in Monthey (VS) and enjoy a backstage tour to gain an understanding of the world of theatre and the types of professions available in the industry. At the end of the three months, the young people will perform their plays in front of a semi-public audience.

The focus of the project is to use creative activities to develop the participants’ social skills and self-esteem.

The feasibility of the concept at the Salvan school and youth shelter will be tested during the project and its scalability for other target groups will also be developed. At the same time, a non-profit organisation will be established that is capable of carrying out the project in the Canton of Valais in the future.
