“Possibility beyond Disability” aims to empower people with disabilities and to enhance their active participation in the societal scene in northern Palestine.
It is a follow-up project to “Art Enables”, which started in August 2019. The “Art Enables” pilot project aimed to ensure that the social, economic, and cultural inclusion of people with disabilities and their families is appreciated in Nablus Governorate. DROSOS supported the institutionalization of Art to Heart as a new inclusive and accessible cultural centre. “Possibility beyond Disability” builds on those achievements by assessing the skills young people with disabilities need to acquire to increase their employability. It also explores the potential of artists with disabilities to earn income through artwork, while developing the following areas:
1. Empower youth with disabilities to socially, culturally and economically, integrate within their communities
- Improve life, creative and cognitive skills of children and youth with disabilities
- Enhance technical creative skills and competencies of art talented youth with disabilities
- Psychosocial support to mothers of children with disabilities
2. Raise awareness on the potential and capabilities of people with disabilities
- Produce and show artistic performances and productions of people with disabilities
- Increase advocacy efforts on the inclusion of people with disabilities
3. Strengthen Art to Heart’s role as an inclusive cultural organization
- Further improve Art to Heart’s institutional capacity
- Diversify Art to Heart’s sources of funding
