Qualifying professional youth in the jewellery industry

Azza Fahmy, an Egyptian worldwide jewellery designer, is passing on her expertise within this project to qualify young people in professional jewellery making. The Azza Fahmy Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation, is therefore working in collaboration with the National Academy for Science and Skills, an academic institution with a strong profile in addressing unemployment and matching labour-market needs with desired skills sets. A tailored technical, theoretical and on-the-job training programme is implemented to create highly-qualified technicians in all aspects of the jewellery-making value chain. Successful graduates of the vocational programme are offered full-time jobs or supported in starting a new business and mentored via a business incubator. These new-generation jewellery makers become the seeds to revive a potentially rewarding industry and they develop their own economic independence.
