Theatre for young people – Educational and character-building

The city of Pirna is located not far from Dresden, yet it only has very few opportunities for young people to become involved in cultural activities.
The project partner known as ‘Die Theatermacher’ is setting up four theatrical training groups with up to 80 young people who will develop their own theatrical productions. Professional drama teachers will provide extensive support during classes that give the young participants space to express themselves and develop their personalities. The groups will present their productions not only to each other, but also to a wider audience at an annual theatre festival. The project will raise awareness about the work of ‘Die Theatermacher’, which in turn will lead to increased support from public and private sources of funding.
In addition to the drama classes for young people, Drosos Foundation also supports the project partner’s organisational development,so that it can further professionalise its educational services and secure long-term funding.
