Visually Impaired People – VIP

VIP offers hope for visually impaired children and young adults by enhancing their quality of life and inclusion in society. The project makes use of contextualised knowledge relating to the rehabilitation of visually impaired people. This takes the form of a certified course for 20 specialists towards their qualification as professional care givers. In addition, the local partner, Baseera, develops and implements a certified capacity-building program for 30 academic institutions, which is aimed at helping them better serve and include visually impaired students. In parallel, 75 visually impaired people develop personal and interpersonal skills and enhance their independence and productivity while adapting their direct physical environments at schools, universities and workplaces. Finally, the partner mobilises community awareness and support in Cairo and Alexandria to change perceptions towards visual impairment.
